PATHWAYS FOR JUSTICE

Session 6
Call to Family, Community, and Participation

Among the seven principles of Catholic Social Teaching, the Call to Family, Community, and Participation tells us that the human person is both sacred and social. Human beings are fulfilled in community and in family. We realize our dignity and rights in relationship with others. How we organize our society in economics, in politics, in law, and in policy, directly affects human dignity and the capacity of individuals to grow in community.

St. Francis Pathways for Justice ministry will highlight community participation at our sixth quarterly program on Catholic Social Teaching in Action. You are invited to join the discussion Wednesday, December 6, 2023, from 7:00-8:30 pm in Brunsman Hall or on Zoom. Our speakers will help us to become more informed voters ahead of 2024 elections and to explore other ways of responding to this call to fulfill human dignity through participation in community. We will have representatives from the following groups:

California Catholic Conference (Miriam Sammartino)
City of Sacramento's Community Engagement Team (Ben Worrall)
Sacramento League of Women Voters (Claudia Signore)

Please let us know if you can join us in person or on Zoom by emailing pathwaysforjustice@stfrancisparish.com. You can also view previous sessions in the quarterly series at https://bit.ly/3SS8NX4

Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus,
I believe that You
are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment
receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there
and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You.
Amen.

Office Hours

9:00am-12:00pm Mon-Fri.
Closed on major holidays.

Who We Are

Honoring our Franciscan tradition, St. Francis Parish is a Catholic Christian Community building the reign of God in the spirit and path of St. Francis and St. Clare of Assisi. We value vibrant liturgy and personal prayer as a way to worship God and celebrate life.

We are an inclusive community respecting the dignity of all persons and supporting the journey of each person. We respond to the command of Jesus to love by welcoming all, evangelizing, supporting spiritual growth, and being Eucharist to each other.

Challenged by the Holy Spirit, we reach beyond ourselves to care for our neighbors, the poor, the marginalized, and those alienated by our Catholic Church. We aspire to be witnesses and prophets advocating for justice in the world and in the church.
