Covenant of Sharing Commitment Weekend October 15 & 16 at all the Masses What is the Spirit calling you to offer our parish community? Prayer? Service? Regular financial Support? Your gifts are appreciated and very much needed. Because we said yes... It has been aid that everything happens in this parish because we said yes to making it happen together. And this is true. I'm mindful of Taizé prayer—the people who put the worship aids together, lead the singing, play the instruments; the people who unlock the doors and turn on the lights; the people offering prayer in movement through Tai Chi; those who come and form a circle of welcome, who pray for me when I am silent, who raise their hands in praise as I sit; those who sing bass and soprano while I pitch in with a bit of tenor. This we can only do together. From our baptism on, we are brought into a family of faith where each one of us is unique, and gifted. No one can praise God like you, love like you, care and reach out to another like you. That love may be expressed through cooking, through serving, through raking, through dusting, through preparing the gifts for Mass. It takes about 12 people to bring our tree into the church every year for Christmas. You are important—your love is deeply appreciated. Thank you for participating and offering your time and love the way only you can. —Sr. Peggy Newcomers tell us they are warmly welcomed at St. Francis. They feel they have finally found a church home, no matter their circumstances. Our parishioners come from over 100 zip codes, but what unites us all is our commitment to community, and to honoring Christ in one another, especially in the poor and marginalized. Called together by God into community as the body of Christ, we help one another along the way and build up the reign of God. God enters into a covenant with us, promising to guide and gift us. Each one of us matters to God and to one another; the whole of our life matters, and we have something to offer—even when we are ill or in difficulties and serve others by graciously accepting their help. May our walk with Christ and each other help us to discover new hopes and dreams, and recognize possibilities—including ways we can share, even in the middle of our busy lives, even with all the demands that are placed on our time, our finances, our spirit. May we find the courage to risk sharing anew from our gifts and receiving the help that we offer to one another when we need it. What Your Gifts Make Possible What do your gifts make possible? Your gift of financial support makes possible a professional staff to minister to our parish; your gift of service expands, supports, and often leads our ministries in partnership with our staff; and your gift of prayer sustains us all.
