"Kick Start" TK Program
St. Francis Elementary School is offering a "Kick Start" Transitional Kindergarten program beginning on January 3, 2011.

This program is available to students who turn five between December 2, 2010 and April 3, 2011. The class will be based on our current TK program, which is a wonderful springboard into Kindergarten.

While there are many spiritual, academic, and social benefits to this Kick Start program, another plus is that your child will be considered a student of our school, which would give him/her first priority into our Kindergarten the following year. interested? Please call Stephanie Pierson at the school office (443-5494) by October 15, 2010.

Do you know a child who would like an outstanding Catholic education?

As a student in our transitional kindergarten (TK) through eighth grade Catholic school, your child will not just receive religious curriculum instruction, but will also experience and live Gospel values throughout the day.

Academically, we are committed to maintaining the highest level of excellence, preparing our students for high school and life-long success, while never losing sight that every child learns differently. We are very proud to say that our most recent standardized test scores are well above the diocesan and national average! In addition to our standard subjects, our outstanding general curriculum also includes Performing Arts, Music, Spanish, Italian, PE, Technology, and Library. Some of our extracurricular activities include Academic, Religion and Math Decathlon teams, Student Council, Choir, Glee Club, Drama Club, and sports programs.

We also offer a wonderful before and after school Extended Day program which meets the needs of most of our working parents.

We will begin accepting applications for the 2011-12 school year for new students and families on January 3, 2011, and will continue to accept them through February 17, 2011. Applications may be downloaded from our Web site, or you may call the school office to have one mailed to you.

Visit our Web site for additional information about our school at www.stfranciselem.org. We look forward to working with you!

On January 27, 28, and 29, 2010, a WASC Accreditation Team evaluated every aspect of our beloved school. The team of five educators witnessed our Catholic identity, observed student learning, and spoke with Fr. Anthony, Sr. Peggy, students, parents, and school staff. The following is from the WASC Visiting Team's Final Report, summarizing their findings:

  • Extraordinarily supportive and actively involved pastor who promotes the school as an integral mission of the parish and engages the students on a regular basis in their spiritual development.

  • An inspiring and visionary principal who reflects and models the philosophy and mission and the Catholic identity of the school for all members of the community.

  • An extremely effective principal whose leadership and deportment empower the staff to strive for excellence in all areas.

  • An exceptionally dedicated and faith-filled faculty and staff who foster the formation of the whole child and the strong sense of family throughout the school.

  • A stellar support staff that daily makes a difference in the lives of students, faculty, administration and parent/guardian community.

  • A faith-filled community that lives out the mission of St. Francis of Assisi.

  • A committed, proud, and supportive parent/guardian community who are willing to sacrifice in support of quality Catholic education for their children.

  • Confident, secure students who appreciated the value of a St. Francis education, are committed to the service of others, courteous, are conscientious stewards of the earth, who genuinely reflect the School wide Learning Expectations: Spiritual, Academic, Respectful, Confident, and Responsible.

St. Francis Elementary opened on November 5, 1895, as a two room school staffed by the Sisters of Mercy from St. Joseph's Academy.   The school, under their direction, expanded to a three story building with twelve rooms.  In September 1901, the Sisters of St. Francis began teaching grades one through nine, and the school was expanded to grade twelve by 1947.  Several years later, the high school was relocated, and the present site became an elementary school only.

Funding sources for the operation of the school include tuition and fees, fund raising, a small parish subsidy for students needing financial aid, and private donations.

St. Francis Elementary School has a family atmosphere where everyone gets to know your child and a staff that really cares about your child's success.
