Contemplative Prayer
labyrinth An ancient tradition in the Church, contemplative prayer is a time set apart to rest in God, to open our minds and hearts — our whole being — to God, the Ultimate Mystery, beyond thoughts, words and emotions.  Quietly consenting to God's presence and action within, we find our attention may also move outward to discover God's presence everywhere.

  • Evening Contemplative Prayer group
Mondays at 6:00PM in the Parish Center Chapel
As the Opening Weekend Celebration for the Centennial draws near, the Monday evening Contemplative Prayer Group is welcoming newcomers and offering introductory lessons in spiritual practice and meditation.

  • Our new meeting time is 6:00pm; we meet for less than an hour on Mondays in the Parish Center. All are welcome. More info: See bulletin for contact info.

The Parish Center Chapel is located in the Parish Center (across K Street from the Church).

  • Daytime Contemplative Prayer group
Tuesdays at 1PM in St. Clare Chapel (following Noon Eucharist).
    All are welcome!

More info: Please contact the Parish Center at (916) 443-8084 or

Taizé Prayer
dove with olive branch Wednesdays at 6PM in the Church
Taizé (pronounced tuh-ZAY) is a small village in western France where there is an ecumenical community of Roman Catholic, Protestant, and Orthodox brothers.  The brothers of Taizé have developed a unique form of prayer and mediation using music, readings and silence.

Every Wednesday evening, St. Francis of Assisi Parish hosts Taizé-style evening prayer from 6-7PM in the Church.  Come share this deeply moving experience with us. All are welcome to participate in this contemplative and spirit-filled service.
