Our parish reaches out to assist, support and build community with:

Funeral Planning
We provide assistance in planning:

  • Funerals
  • Memorial services
  • Rosaries and vigils
that reflect the rich liturgical tradition of the parish.

Ministry members help parishioners and their families select appropriate scriptural readings, prayers and music that have special significance for them.  During this challenging time, they also arrange for musicians and vocalists, work with funeral homes and cemeteries, and provide support to the family and friends of those who have died.

For Assistance With These Services:

Grief Support
Coping with the death of a loved one is one of the hardest things we have to do in life.

Our grief support program, “Grief, Gratitude & Grace”, is a 4-week series that addresses this journey of loss and healing. The series is offered on Mondays in February, June, and October.

The series provides an opportunity for those who have experienced the death of a loved one to join with others in a loving, healing environment to share their stories and experience. In addition to the sharing, each evening includes information on coping with grief, the tasks and characteristics of grief, reading lists, ritual and prayer.

Information on our February series...

Grief, Gratitude & Grace: Mondays in February (2/4, 2/11, 2/18, 2/25)

This series will be offered again on Mondays in June and October.

Healing Prayer
Healing prayer ministers are available to pray for and with you at the doors of our church after all Masses. They may be identified by their badges.

Please contact Kay Skonieczny, Director of Outreach, at
(916) 443-8084 x111 or KayS@stfrancisparish.com for more information.

Are you being called to pray with and for your fellow parishioners?
God does the Listening, Loving and Healing — all we do is say “yes” to being God’s instrument.

Members of the Healing Prayer Ministry make themselves available for a few minutes after Saturday or Sunday Mass to pray with and for fellow parishioners. Prayers are said with the Lord and under the seal of confidentiality.

More Information:

Communion Visitation Ministry
Members of our Communion Visitation Ministry are available to bring Communion to those who are homebound.

Tithing Committee
sharing hands Mission Statement:
As a voice of the people of St. Francis Parish, the Tithing Committee aspires to be a witness and prophet advocating for justice in the world through our quarterly contributions of treasure.

Guided by the Holy Spirit, and responding to the St. Francis Parish Mission Statement, the Tithing Committee seeks to reach beyond our parish to support local, national and international non-profit organizations whose mission and activities are compatible with the St. Francis of Assisi Parish Mission Statement.

The Tithing Committee, which has an annual budget of $6,000, meets quarterly to select, for the pastor's approval, organizations whose missions are compatible with our own. Each quarter, $1500 is awarded, $250 to each of six organizations. The Committee has been charged, in arriving at recommendations, to consider both charitable and justice/advocacy organizations - as well as local, national and international groups.

If you have a charity you would like the committee to consider:

  • You may attend the meeting (which is announced in the church bulletin a few weeks prior).
  • You may contact the Tithing Committee via email: TithingCom@stfrancisparish.com
